MU kicks off Spring Season against UWM

MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University women’s soccer team will face off against inner-city foe UW Milwaukee at Valley Fields on Sunday, April 10 at 10 a.m.

Last season’s matchup between the two teams ended with a 1-1 draw after junior Erin Holland netted a goal in the 23rd minute from just inside midfield.

The Panthers finished their fall season with an 11-3-4 record. Junior midfielder Anna Smalley led the team with 18 points, scoring a total of eight goals. Maria Stephans led the team in assists with seven, going along with four goals of her own. She had 15 points on the season, tied for second on the team.

Women's Soccer and Milwaukee Draw 1-1
The Marquette University women's soccer team notched its third draw in the last four matches with a 1-1 decision on Wednesday evening against Milwaukee at Engelmann Stadium.

Marquette concluded its season with an 8-8-4 record, falling to Butler 1-0 in the quarterfinals of the BIG EAST Women’s Soccer Tournament. The Golden Eagles return 10 of their 11 goal scorers from last season, while saying goodbye to seniors Jacie Jermier, Ann Marie Lynch, and Amanda Engel. Junior Darian Powell led MU last season with 15 points and seven goals.

The game will take place on the west turf field and is free and open to the public.
