CHICAGO - Marquette University junior Morgan Proffitt of the women's soccer program has been has been named to the roster for the United States Under-23 Women's National Team training camp, which will take place from May 1-7 in Charlottesville, Virginia.

"Our entire team is very happy for Morgan to get this opportunity," Marquette head coach Markus Roeders said. "She is very deserving and we look forward to her having a great camp. `Mo' wants to continue to play at the highest level and this is another step in that direction. Any time a player has a chance to represent our country, it is a huge honor."

Proffitt was a NSCAA All-Northeast Region selection in the fall after earning All-BIG EAST First Team honors on defense and was as a second team all-conference selection in 2014. The Columbus, Indiana native scored three goals as a junior and earned BIG EAST weekly recognition on three occasions, including a pair of defensive player of the week honors.

"Only a few people know that `Mo' had an invite to the U18 National Team camp but couldn't attend due to an injury," Roeders said. "For her to get invited this time is a huge honor and we know she will represent herself, Marquette and our program very well. We wish her much success."

The roster for the training camp includes 26 collegiate players, with the NWSL season underway, and Proffitt joins St. John's goalkeeper Diana Poulin as one of two BIG EAST student-athletes participating.

Mary Luba was the last MU student-athlete to compete with the U-23 team in 2014. Maegan Kelly and Emily Jacobson also participated in 2013.

The Golden Eagles concluded the 2015 campaign with an overall record of 8-8-4.
