Mary Luba Invited To U.S. National Team Camp
July 15, 2014
MILWAUKEE - Rising senior midfielder Mary Luba was selected to join the U.S. Under-23 Women's National Team for a summer training camp in Seattle, U.S. Soccer announced yesterday. The event will run from July 15-22 and is the team's third training camp of the year.
Luba is coming off a season for the Golden Eagles in which she ranked second on the team with 21 points on eight goals and five assists. Her nine points (three goals, three assists) in conference play were also second on the team and tied for the fifth-best mark in the BIG EAST.
Luba's efforts in 2013 earned her an All-BIG EAST Second Team distinction, the BIG EAST Championship Outstanding Offensive Player award and a spot on the NSCAA/Continental Tire Women's NCAA Division I All-Northeast Region Third Team.
Luba is one of 20 current NCAA student-athletes on the 24-player U-23 roster, and one of eight midfielders. She and Georgetown midfielder Daphne Corboz are the only two players representing the BIG EAST. Head coach Steve Swanson filled the final four spots on the roster with players who concluded their collegiate careers last fall.
