MILWAUKEE -
The Marquette University women's soccer team will host Wisconsin at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Valley Fields in its first and only exhibition match of the 2016 preseason.

Admission to the contest is free and live coverage will be provided on the Marquette women's soccer team's Twitter profile, @MUWomensSoccer.

The Golden Eagles, who are in the midst of a week of training at Camp Whitcomb-Mason, will return to campus on Thursday afternoon and be on hand for Marquette Soccer's Fan Fest, which begins at 6 p.m. on the west turf field in the Valley. Fan Fest includes a skill zone before a free Qdoba bar for fans opens at 6:45 p.m. prior to MU's match. The men's team will also play a scrimmage at halftime of the women's game.

Marquette is 3-2-4 against UW in exhibition action over the last nine years, including a 1-1 draw at then-No. 14 Wisconsin last season. Caroline Fink posted the equalizer in the 59th minute at the McClimon Soccer Complex in Madison after the Badgers took the lead in the 35th minute.

The Golden Eagles, who are the lone BIG EAST team to reach the conference quarterfinals in every season as a conference member, return eight of 11 starters and 23 of 28 letter winners from a squad that went 8-8-4 (5-3-1 BIG EAST) and finished fifth in the league's 2015 regular season standings. Marquette also returns 93 percent of its goal scoring production from last season.

The Badgers are coming off an 11-6-3 campaign in 2015, which included a record of 8-2-1 in Big Ten Conference action. NSCAA First Team All-American midfielder Rose Lavelle returns to lead the Wisconsin offense after pacing the squad with seven goals and 17 points as a junior in 2015. UW's second- and third-leading scorers McKenna Meuer (six goals) and Kinley McCioll (four goals) have departed from last year's team.

The meeting marks the 10th-straight season that the two squads have faced off in their respective exhibition openers.
