MILWAUKEE - The No. 15/16 Marquette University women's soccer team will kick off its 2014 season this weekend by hosting Loyola University Chicago, Northwestern and Fairleigh Dickinson for the second annual Marquette Invitational.

The defending BIG EAST champion Golden Eagles will take on Loyola on Friday, Aug. 22, at 7:30 p.m. in their season opener, then they will play Northwestern at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 24. Both games will be broadcast live on All-Access.

Both of Marquette's opponents will also play matches against Farleigh Dickinson over the course of the weekend. Northwestern's bout with the Knights is set for 5 p.m. on Friday, while Loyola will face Farleigh Dickinson at 11 a.m. on Sunday.

Admission for all matches except the one played on Sunday morning will cost $5 for adults and $3 for anyone 18 and under. Loyola's match against Farleigh Dickinson will be free for everyone. The ticket booth will open at 4 p.m. on Friday and at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday.

All kids who attended the boys and girls soccer camps will receive free admission to Friday's match, as well as any kids 13 and under who bring their completed Fan Fest score card. Members of the women's soccer team will also be available after the match to sign autographs.

Any new Marquette students who come to Sunday's home tilt against Northwestern can stop by the marketing table for a free Marquette soccer prize pack.

Fans will also have a chance to see Marquette's men's team in action on Sunday, as the Golden Eagles will take on Wright State in a free exhibition at 1:30 p.m.

The winner of each Marquette Invitational match will be awarded three points in the tournament standings, and both teams will receive one point in ties. Once all matches have been played, a champion will be determined based on total points. If there is a tie atop the standings, the tiebreaker is head-to-head result, but if two teams have not played each other, co-champions will be crowned.
