The No. RV/23 Marquette women's soccer team will host Auburn and New Mexico for the 11th annual MKE Cup this weekend at Valley Fields. The Golden Eagles will play the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and New Mexico in the tournament finale on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.

UW-Milwaukee will kick-off the tournament at 5 p.m. Friday against New Mexico and take on Auburn on Sunday at 11 a.m.

The Golden Eagles have won three of 10 MKE Cups. Marquette stands 16-4 all-time in the MKE Cup and 11-3 in games played at Valley Fields. Last season, MU defeated Rice (1-0) and Michigan (1-0), but did not win the title due to the goals differential tiebreaker with UW-Milwaukee.

Marquette opened the season with a 5-0 win over Idaho State and a 1-1 double overtime draw at Ohio State. Marquette had four different players score goals against Idaho State led by Rachael Sloan with two. Rosie Malone-Povolny and Lauren Thut also tallied multi-point performances against the Bengals. Lisa Philbin scored her first goal of the season in the 1-1 tie at Ohio State.

Auburn, who was picked to win the Southeastern Conference West Division, returns eight starters from the 2009 season where it went 10-9-3 overall and earned a trip to the NCAA Tournament.

Katy Frierson, Auburn's leading scorer from 2009, scored one goal and added two assists to help the Tigers defeat Tennessee Tech, 4-0, in their season opener.

The Tigers are currently receiving votes (24) in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll.

The Lobos enter the MKE Cup following a pair of shutouts over Montana State (7-0) and Nebraska (3-0) in their first weekend of play. New Mexico returns 10 starters from a season ago that went 13-5-3 overall, including leading scorer Jennifer Williams who scored 10 goals and seven assists for the Lobos in 2009. Williams scored two goals and contributed two assists in the Lobos two wins last weekend.

The Lobos are currently receiving votes (1) in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll.
