MILWAUKEE - Freshman Maegan Kelly was honored by the BIG EAST Conference Monday afternoon as she was named the league's rookie of the week. The honor is Kelly's first of her career.

Kelly played a key role in MU's 3-0 victory over Auburn Aug. 27 in the Golden Eagles' first game of the MKE Cup. Kelly made the most of her 17 minutes of action against Tigers as she had two great looks at the goal that were saved before she found the back of the net in the 73rd minute. Kelly played a season-high 61 minutes in MU's 1-0 overtime loss to New Mexico.

Marquette will travel to Minnesota this weekend to participate in the Minnesota Gold Classic in Minneapolis, Minn. Marquette will play No. 22/25 San Diego on Friday, Sept. 3 at 4:30 p.m., and take on UC Santa Barbara at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 5.
