MILWAUKEE - Senior defender Shannon Cusick picked up her first national honor of the season as she was named to the Soccer Buzz Elite Team of the Week. It is Cusick's second national honor by the magazine of her career.

The senior defender, who was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll this week, played an integral part of MU's stifling backline that allowed just five total shots in the Golden Eagles' wins over Ohio State and Samford in the Milwaukee Cup last weekend. For her efforts, Cusick was named to the Milwaukee Cup All-Tournament Team.

"Shannon plays like a senior. She is experienced, is a leader on and off the field and is part of our foundation in the back," said head coach Markus Roeders. "Our teams always pride themselves for excellent defending and Shannon examplifies it as much as anybody. Congrats to her and our team, it nice to be honored for hard work."

The No. RV/25/- Golden Eagles will be in action tonight as they host No. RV/24/25 Wis.-Milwaukee at Valley Fields. Kick-off is set for 7 p.m.
