Jermier the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week
Sept. 28, 2015
NEW YORK – Redshirt senior Jacie Jermier of the Marquette University women’s soccer team was honored as the BIG EAST Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon, while junior defender Morgan Proffitt was also named to the league’s weekly honor roll.
Jermier had a hand in the first four goals of Marquette’s 5-1 victory over Creighton on Sunday afternoon and tallied a career-best five points on a goal and three assists in the victory. She posted an assist on Darian Powell’s equalizer in the 38th minute, and after assisting Proffitt’s go-ahead goal in the 59th minute, tallied a goal of her own on a penalty kick with just under 13 minutes to play.
The Senior CLASS Award candidate, who has played as both a defender and midfielder in 2015, now leads the Golden Eagles (4-4-3, 1-0-0 BIG EAST) with nine points on the season, just two off a career-high.
Proffitt notched her second and third goals of the season in the win over CU and helped limit the Bluejays and Milwaukee to a pair of goals in two matches. The All-BIG EAST Preseason Team selection posted the match winner against Creighton and put her second header of the day in the back of the net in the 80th minute.
In addition to its win over Creighton, MU also drew 1-1 at Milwaukee on last Wednesday evening.
The Golden Eagles will head to the East Coast for a Thursday, Oct. 1 meeting at Seton Hall and a Sunday, Oct. 4 match at St. John's. Both games will be broadcast live on the BIG EAST Digital Network.
