MILWAUKEE--A pair of Marquette University women's soccer players, Liz Bartels and Jacie Jermier, earned BIG EAST conference honors, the league announced Monday. Bartels claimed the BIG EAST Offensive Player of Week designation, while Jermier was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor.

Bartels and Jermier helped the Golden Eagles complete a 2-0 week, and an undefeated start to BIG EAST play. Bartels, the sophomore from Omaha, Neb., tallied a goal and two assists in MU's 7-2 victory in its conference lidlifter against Creighton, as well as the game-winning goal in Marquette's 1-0 victory over Villanova.

Bartels leads the Golden Eagles with four assists on the season, and is tied for the second most goals on the club with three.

Jermier, who claimed BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week honors last week, put forth another strong effort in MU's unblemished start to league action. The McFarland, Wis. native, Jermier, and the Marquette defensive unit allowed just two goals in the team's two matches. The junior midfielder also recorded her team-leading fourth goal of the season in MU's conference opener.

Marquette, winners of four-consecutive contests, returns to action this Thursday when it heads to St. John's for its first road matchup of the conference season. Game time is slated for 6 p.m. Central time in Jamaica, New York.
