Engel and Hishmeh Honored by the BIG EAST
Oct. 7, 2013
MILWAUKEE--Sophomore Amanda Engel has been named the BIG EAST Conference Goalkeeper of the Week, while senior Katie Hishmeh was named to the women's soccer weekly honor roll, the conference office announced on Monday.
Engel earns the title for the second time in as many weeks as she helped Marquette (11-3, 4-0) to a 2-0 week in league action with a 3-1 victory over St. John's on Thursday and a 3-0 shutout on the road at Xavier on Sunday. Engel allowed just one goal in two games and picked up two saves for the week and recorded her fifth shutout of the campaign.
Hishmeh garners an honor roll accolade for the second time this season as she played a full 180 minutes and helped anchor MU's backline that allowed just one goal in the 2-0 week. Hishmeh also recorded the game-winning goal in the Golden Eagles' 3-0 victory at Xavier, which was her first this season and just the second of her career.
Marquette will battle nationally ranked Georgetown on Sunday, Oct. 13 in the newly renovated Valley Field. The Hoyas are in second place behind MU in the conference standings.
