Oct. 8, 2012
MILWAUKEE - Junior midfielder Maegan Kelly has been named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.
Kelly totaled five points in two games over the weekend to help lead Marquette to a 1-0-1 week. Kelly had four points with one goal and two assists to help lead the Golden Eagles in a 5-0 shutout at Providence. She followed that performance with one assists in a 1-1 draw at Connecticut. Kelly combined for eight shots in the two games.
This is Kelly's first Offensive Player of the Week honor. Last week she was named to the conference honor roll.
Marquette returns home and will play the final three games of the regular season at Valley Fields. The Golden Eagles host St. John's on Friday, Oct. 12 at 7:00 p.m. It is Marquette's `Kick-For-A-Cure' game. Join the Golden Eagles in an effort to promote cancer awareness and raise donations benefit the Milwaukee Breast and Cervical Cancer Awareness Program (MBCCAP).
