NEW YORK – Redshirt junior Carrie Madden earned her first BIG EAST Conference Weekly Honor Roll mention of the season on Monday after posting a pair of goals in the Marquette University women’s soccer team’s 2-0 win over DePaul on Thursday.

Madden, a 2017 BIG EAST All-Preseason Team selection, scored for the first time since an Aug. 25 match against Drake and posted goals on half of her shots against the Blue Demons. The forward sits second on the squad with 11 points coming on four goals and three assists this season.

The Deer Park, Illinois native led the Golden Eagles (9-5-1, 2-3 BIG EAST) with 17 points in 2016 and earned mention on the all-tournament team at the league championship after scoring twice in a semifinal victory over St. John’s. She also earned weekly honor roll recognition once during her redshirt sophomore campaign.

The Golden Eagles have their final mid-week bye in conference action before hosting Xavier at Valley Fields on Saturday, Oct. 14 for Senior Night. Powell, Eli Beard, Caroline Fink, Madison Dunker and Kirsten Timmer will all be honored on the field in a special ceremony.
