MILWAUKEE - Following a pair of 3-0 shutouts, defender Katie Hishmeh and goalkeeper Natalie Kulla were honored by the BIG EAST Conference and TopDrawerSoccer.com. Hishmeh was tabbed the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week, while Kulla was named to TopDrawerSoccer.com's Team of the Week.

Hishmeh logged 180 minutes in the two wins over Providence and Connecticut, while also recording three points on a goal and an assist. The Brookfield native was integral to MU holding the Friars and the Huskies to a combined five shots on goal.

The defensive player of the week honor is the first of her career. Hishmeh is the third Golden Eagle to earn the honor this season.

Kulla also played every minute of each game and totaled five saves while earning her 39th and 40th shutouts of her career.

Including Kulla, Marquette has had a student-athlete named to TopDrawerSoccer.com's Team of the week five times in 2011.The website ranks Marquette No. 9 this week in its Tournament 64 National Ranking.

The Golden Eagles head back on the road this weekend for a pair of games in the Empire State. MU will play at St. John's on Friday, Oct. 14 and at Syracuse on Sunday, Oct. 16.
