Oct. 15, 2012
MILWAUKEE - After helping Marquette to two shutout victories and a division title, senior Ally Miller has been named to the BIG EAST weekly honor roll, the conference office announced on Monday. Junior Emily Jacobson is topdrawersoccer.com's Defender/Midfielder of the Week, their website also released.
Miller helped anchor a defense that recorded two shutouts and allowed just two shots on goal in the two games. Marquette went 2-0 in the week and clinched the BIG EAST American Division Championship for the four year in a row. Miller has been a member of four regular season championships.
Jacobson played all 180 minutes in MU's two games this weekend as the Golden Eagles defeated St. John's 3-0 and returned with a 2-0 shutout over Syracuse.
Miller has been named BIG EAST defensive player of the week twice this season, and has now been on the honor roll three times. Jacobson was the conference's defensive player of the week on Oct. 1.
The Golden Eagles will host senior night on Saturday, Oct. 20 at Valley Fields in their final regular season home game. Kick-off is slated for 7:00 p.m. CT.
