MILWAUKEE - Following a pair of road shutout victories over Cincinnati and Louisville, senior defender Allison McBride was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week, announced Monday by conference officials.

McBride earned BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week honors after leading the Golden Eagles defense to a 2-0-0 week. The wins helped Marquette move into first place of the American Division standings heading into the final weekend of the regular season. Marquette won at Cincinnati 1-0 on Oct. 16 and topped Louisville 2-0 on Oct. 18. The opponents' offense was held to just eight shots in the two games. This is her first BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week award.

In other Marquette women's soccer news, the Golden Eagles improved to No. 18 in the Soccer America Top-25 Poll released Monday.

The No. 18 Golden Eagles (11-4-2, 5-2-2 BIG EAST) will close out its last weekend of regular season play in the Empire State with the BIG EAST American Division title on the line. Marquette will first play at Syracuse on Friday, Oct. 23 before taking on St. John's on Sunday, Oct. 25.
