Ally Miller Is BIG EAST Defensive Player Of The Week

MILWAUKEE - Senior Ally Miller has been tabbed as BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week for the third time this season, the conference office announced on Monday afternoon.

In addition to the conference honor, Miller was selected as's Midfielder of the Week and junior Cara Jacobson was selected as College Sports Madness BIG EAST Player of the Week.

Miller led MU's backfield in a 4-0 rout of USF on Saturday in which the defense allowed zero shots on goal and gave up just one shot in the entire game. It was the Golden Eagles' 13th shutout of the season.

Jacobson contributed one goal, which proved to be the game winner, to Marquette's offensive explosion and handed out one assist for three points.

This is Miller third's major conference honor this season. She has also been named to the weekly honor roll on three occasions.

Marquette will host quarterfinal action in the BIG EAST Championship on Sunday, Oct. 28. The Golden Eagles will welcome the winner of Rutgers/Connecticut to Valley Fields for a 1:00 p.m. kick-off.
