Miller and Wepking Honored for Academic Success

MILWAUKEE - Two Marquette women's soccer players were honored for their hard work and dedication on the field as well as in the classroom Friday, as senior defender Katie Miller and senior midfielder Kelly Wepking were named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Five team presented by ESPN the Magazine. Miller was a first team selection, while Wepking earned second team honors. The pair was two of 14 players from the BIG EAST Conference.
Miller, a double major in marketing and human resources with overall grade-point average of 3.95 has been integral member of the Golden Eagles defense that has posted a single season record and BIG EAST-high 13 shutouts. She has started and played in all 19 games and has accumulated the most minutes of any field player on the team, amassing 1,764 minutes of action. It is the second consecutive season Miller has been honored with first team accolades.
Wepking, a biomedical sciences/pre-med major, holds a 3.93 cumulative grade-point average and is one of 14 players who have tallied a goal this season. It is Wepking's first selection by CoSIDA and ESPN The Magazine.
First-team selections have the opportunity to be named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America team, which will be released on Nov. 17.
