WASHINGTON – Senior midfielder Eli Beard and redshirt junior forward Carrie Madden were named to the All-BIG EAST Championship Team on Sunday following the conclusion of the league’s title match in Washington, D.C.

Beard scored a pair of goals in Marquette’s 3-0 win over Xavier in the league quarterfinals on Sunday, Oct. 29, while Madden assisted Kylie Sprecher’s match winner and Beard’s first goal of the afternoon.

The Golden Eagles (13-7-1) advanced to the conference semifinals, in which they fell, 4-0, to league regular season and tournament champion, No. 19 Georgetown. It was MU’s 10th trip to the semifinals in its 13 years as conference members.

The honor is the first postseason honor of Beard’s career, while Madden, an All-BIG EAST First Team selection, was also named to the all-tournament team in 2016 after scoring the overtime winner against St. John’s in last year’s semifinal.
