Reigle Named First Team Academic All-American
Nov. 26, 2013
MILWAUKEE--Marquette University women's soccer senior midfielder Kate Reigle has been named to the Capital One Academic All-America First Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), it was announced on Tuesday.
Reigle has maintained a perfect 4.0 cumulative grade point average in every semester at Marquette and will graduate in May with a degree in biomedical sciences. She was a third team All-American selection last season and a first team All-District 6 member in 2011.
"Congratulations to Kate," head coach Markus Roeders said. "This is a wonderful honor for her and very well deserving. She is a tremendous student, a great player and such a special young lady. To be named first team All-American shows that she belongs among an elite group of student-athletes. Perfection in the classroom is nearly impossible but Kate has managed to get it done. All of us at Marquette are proud of her accomplishments. She has left an incredible positive mark on all of us."
The Brookfield, Wis., native is one of just 11 Marquette student athletes in history to earn first team accolades and the second women's soccer player in history after Ally Miller was a first team selection in 2012.
Reigle dished out two assists in 2013 and finished her MU career with 11 goals and 14 assists for 36 points through four seasons as a Golden Eagle. She helped lead Marquette to four BIG EAST regular season titles, two BIG EAST tournament titles and four NCAA Tournament appearances.
