United Soccer Coaches Release

KANSAS CITY – Marquette University forward Carrie Madden was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Midwest Region Second Team earlier this week.

Madden turned in a career year as a redshirt junior, setting new highs in goals (seven) and points (19) despite missing time due to injury. For her efforts, she was the lone Golden Eagle on the All-BIG EAST First Team and made the league’s all-tournament team after notching a pair of assists in the quarterfinal match versus Xavier.

She joins four other BIG EAST players on the second team, with representatives from Providence, DePaul and Georgetown. A Marquette player has been on the all-region second team in every season dating back to 2009. Current professional player Morgan Proffitt made the (previously NSCAA) Northeast Region Second Team for her stellar play with the Golden Eagles in 2016.

The Golden Eagles finished the 2017 campaign 13-7-1 overall and advanced to the BIG EAST tournament semifinals for the 10th time in their 13-year affiliation with the league.
