Miller and Brown are 2012 NSCAA Scholar All-Americans
Dec. 14, 2012
MILWAUKEE - Seniors Ally Miller and Rachel Brown of the Marquette women's soccer team have been honored for their work in the classroom as the duo earned 2012 NSCAA Scholar All-America honors. Miller was a first team selection, while Brown was placed on the second team.
"Congratulations to Ally and Rachel," head coach Markus Roeders said. "These are wonderful honors and well earned. Both of them enjoyed fantastic careers at Marquette and we are proud of their accomplishments. Considering that any on field honors are always a combination of individual play and great teammates playing with them, academically they strived for excellence and earned Scholar All-America honors on their own. Once again, it shows the excellence and drive of our players that they can excel on the field, in the classroom and also with their work in the community."
Miller adds yet another postseason honor to her decorated career. She was named to the 2012 NSCAA/Continental Tire Women's NCAA Division I All-Northeast first team and was one of just 10 finalists for the 2012 Senior CLASS Award®, which is given annually to the most outstanding senior student-athlete in Division I women's soccer. Miller earned BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year honors and was also named to the NSCAA All-American second team and was a Capital One All-America first team selection.
Brown has also been awarded multiple postseason honors. She was a 2012 second team NSCAA/Continental Tire All-Northeast region honoree and earned a spot on the All-BIG EAST first team this season in which she produced four goals and three assists for the Golden Eagles. Two of her goals were game-winners.
Miller will graduate in the May with a degree in Advertising and Marketing and holds a 3.86 grade point average. Brown will also graduate in May and earn a degree in Accounting and Finance with a 3.56 grade point average.
