The Marquette women's tennis team signed Paola Calderon, a native of Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, to a National Letter of Intent announced by head coach Jody Bronson.

The Marquette women's tennis team wrapped up the 2008 season on a high note by defeating No. 7 seed St. John's, 4-1, to claim fifth place in the BIG EAST Tournament Sunday. The Golden Eagles complete the season 14-13 overall to mark their first winning season since 2000.

The Marquette women's tennis team rallied after losing to doubles point to get four singles wins at Nos. 3, 4, 5 and 6, and pull out a 4-3 win over No. 8 seed Rutgers Saturday afternoon at the BIG EAST Tournament in Tampa, Fla. The win helps Marquette stay even, 13-13, on the season and move on to play St. John's for fifth place Sunday at 9 a.m. on the P.E. Courts.
