The Marquette women's tennis team lost another close match Friday afternoon, 4-3, at Santa Clara. Paola Calderon, Christina Ruiz and Rachael Hush each earned singles wins for the Golden Eagles who dropped to 11-9 on the season.

A member of the Marquette women's tennis squad was named the BIG EAST Tennis Player of the Week for the third consecutive week, the conference announced Wednesday. Junior Christina Ruiz is the second MU student-athlete to earn the honor this season, following in the footsteps of sophomore Gillian Hush.

The Marquette women's tennis team got singles wins from Olga Fischer, Christina Ruiz and Rachael Hush, but it was not enough as it was edged by San Francisco, 4-3, Tuesday afternoon. The loss puts Marquette at 11-8 overall on the season.
