Sophomore (2011-12) - Diaz finished the campaign with an overall singles record of 17-18, picking up 13 of those victories in dual matches. She was a combined 7-2 at the No. 5 and 6 positions. Helped MU top St. John's in the first round of the BIG EAST Championships when she beat Diamond Adams, 6-0, 6-3. In doubles action, Diaz teamed-up with Dawson, Fischer and Pimienta to earn 18 doubles victories on the campaign. Received MU's Dedication Award. Earned second letter. Freshman (2010-11) - Diaz compiled a 12-4 overall singles record during her freshman campaign. She finished the year by winning seven consecutive singles matches and tallied wins in eight of her last ten matches. In dual match play, Diaz recorded an overall 11-4 doubles record with teammate Olga Fischer at the No. 2 and 3 spots. Prior to Marquette - Diaz was ranked a career-high No. 386 in juniors by the ITF in September 2009. She currently stands at No. 452 in the ITF rankings after advancing to the round of 32 at the ITF G1 Asuncion Bowl Qualifying in Paraguay. In 2010, Diaz reached the finals at the ITF G5 Pascuas Bowl and competed in the the ITF G2 Uruguay Bow, ITF G2 Argentina Cup and ITF G2 Copa Milo, Chile. She also was a finalist in singles and doubles play at the 2009 ITF G5 Caracas Open, and doubles finalist at ITF G5 Bahia Open, Brazil.Personal - Diaz was born January 6, 1992 to Sergio and Patricia. She has two siblings, Pablo and Sergio. Diaz is a business administration major. She attended high school at La Salle Florida (Buenos Aires). |
