Robin Metzler

Senior (2008-09) -- Metzler was named team MVP after a career-best and team-leading season. She posted a 17-9 overall singles record, including wins against three ranked teams. In the month of February, she won seven consecutive matches, all with 2-0 victories. She ended the season winning 13 of her last 16 matches, falling to three top 40 teams. In doubles play, Metzler paired with Rachael Hush, Christina Ruiz, Paola Calderon, and Olga Fischer, tallying eight wins with Ruiz.

Junior (2007-08) -- Metzler sat out the fall season recovering from a wrist injury. She competed in 17 matches in the spring primarily in the bottom of the lineup and complied a 11-6 overall record. Metzler lost only once at No. 5 and registered a 5-2 mark at No. 6. Metzler closed out her season with a 3-0 record at the BIG EAST Tournament defeating her counterparts from DePaul, Rutgers and St. John's. She paired with Shannon Brown in doubles play and won a pair of conference matches at the No. 2 slot.

Sophomore (2006-07) -- Metzler dabbled between the four and five singles slots her sophomore season where she totaled an spring record of 14-10. She went 0-5 in the fall for an overall record of 14-15. She was 5-1 in BIG EAST play defeating her counterparts at no. 5 singles from Louisville, Connecticut, Syracuse, Seton Hall and no. 4 at Rutgers. She won six straight matches from Feb. 23 - March 16. Robin paired with Shannon Brown for 12 matches registering an overall record of 6-6. The pair was 4-1 in dual play earning records of 2-0 at no. 1 doubles and 2-1 at no. 2 doubles. Metzler also played with Francina Bonnelly (1-0) and Maria Calbeto (0-1).

Freshman (2005-06) -- Did not step on the court until the spring season after suffering injuries in the fall. Totaled a 5-15 singles record for the season. Played primarily at no. 6 singles recording a 4-9 record. Was 0-1 at no. 3 singles, 1-1 at no. 4 singles and 0-4 at no. 5 singles. Tallied back-to-back wins twice during the season with victories over Wis.-Milwaukee and Indiana State the six singles spot on Feb. 4 and 11, respectively, and again on March 25 and 27 against South Dakota State and Illinois State, respectively, with wins at the no. 6 and no. 4 singles. Played all but two doubles matches with Dominika Dabrowski mostly at no. 3 doubles. Posted a 5-6 doubles record with Dabrowski at three doubles, 1-4 with Dabrowski at no. 2 doubles and 0-1 at two doubles with Francina Bonnelly.

Prior to Marquette -- Metzler earned two letters at Shawnee Mission East High School where she was First Team All-Metro selection her sophomore year and Second Team All-Metro her freshman year. She was captain of the team her sophomore season and captured a third place finish in doubles at the state competition.

Personal -- Born September 22, 1986 to Robert and Marcia Metzler of Kansas City, Mo. She has three older brothers Andrew, Ryan and Brennan. Her brother Andrew played tennis for the University of North Carolina and her brother Brennan is a member of the track and cross country teams at the Universtiy of Kansas. She is a psychology major.
