Prior to Marquette -- Newman earned varsity letters every season at Thomas More High School in Milwaukee. She competed at the No. 1 singles position in her final three seasons, and was ranked seventh in the Wisconsin State tournament as a senior and 23rd as a junior. She was named an all-state selection following her senior season. Personal-- Newman was born on June 19, 1991 to Julie and Dennis Newman. She has a younger sibling, Janay. At Thomas More High School, Newman was the first female athlete to reach 1,000 career points as she was named first team all-conference and honorable mention all-area. She is a biomedical engineering major. |
