Notre Dame standout Katie Potts joined the Marquette women's tennis staff in June of 2009. Potts comes to Marquette following a stellar career at Notre Dame where she helped the Irish compile a 103-20 overall record, including 34 wins over top-25 opponents, and an .837 winning percentage. Potts was also integral to Notre Dame's 47-3 mark at home, four straight top-20 finishes, two BIG EAST Championships and four consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, including a berth in the 2009 NCAA semifinals, the best finish in program history. In singles play, Potts tallied a 70-33 overall record, 49-18 in dual competition and a 40-11 overall doubles mark. Potts graduated from Notre Dame in May 2009 with a degree in finance from the Mendoza College of Business. Potts, a Brookfield native and three-sport (tennis, soccer, basketball) standout at Divine Savior Holy Angels High School, was a two-time Wisconsin state singles champion (2003 and '04), the 2004- 05 Girls' Tennis Player of the Year by The National High School Coaches Association, and finished her career with a 126-5 record. She was a three-time high school All-American (2003-05), and was named team captain in her final season DSHA. She earned all-state and team MVP honors each of her prep seasons, and was tabbed the Female Prep Athlete of the Year for 2004-05 by the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. Potts also won the WTA Frank Parker Junior Award as the female player in Wisconsin that best exemplified tennis excellence and sportsmanship both on and off the court. |
