Marquette Wraps Day Two at the Hoosier Invitational

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.--The Marquette women's tennis team continued play at the Hoosier Invitational on the campus of Indiana University on Sunday, playing in its first tournament since the fall season.

MU earned five victories on Sunday, picking up three in doubles play and two in singles action. Paula Tormos Sanchez and Diana Tokar resumed as doubles partners and defeated Colorado in a tight 8-7 (7-2) battle in the third round and followed that performance with another defeat of Colorado, 8-5 in the fourth round.

Silvia Ambrosio and Fleur Eggink also bested their Colorado opponent, 8-5 in the fourth round.

In singles play, Tormos Sanchez and freshman Isabella Franks earned wins as Tormos Sanchez stormed back after dropping the first set, 5-7 to even the match with a 6-0 second set win and went on to claim the tiebreaker, 10-2. Franks made quick work of her Abilene Christian opponent, 6-4, 6-2.

Play will conclude on Monday with doubles competition beginning at 8:30 a.m. Central time.
