MU Continues Play at IU Winter Invitational

MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University women's tennis team continued play at the IU Winter Invitational led by the duo of Silvia Ambrosio and Erin Gebes who won both of their matches en route to a doubles championship.

Ambrosio and Gebes took down Indiana's pairing of Schmider and Whalen , 6-4 in the semifinals, and closed out Abilene Christian, 6-3 in the championship match.

Diana Tokar and Courtney Hebard advanced to the semifinals before being bested by Abilene Christian's duo, 6-3. Meanwhile, Paula Tormos Sanchez and Aleeza Kanner won their final doubles match of the day, 6-0 against Wright State.

In singles play, MU swept Wright State, finishing 6-0 for the day. Aleeza Kanner and Leoni Daems led the way, beating their opponents 6-2, 6-1 and 6-3, 6-2 respectively.

Marquette will close out the IU Winter Inviational tomorrow, before dual season starts when MU hosts cross-town foe Milwaukee Jan. 23 at Helfaer Tennis Stadium.
