MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University women's tennis team finished play at the IU Winter Invitational, which saw MU players play to a cumulative 5-2 record on the final day.

After winning the doubles championship a day earlier, Silvia Ambrosio and Erin Gebes returned to the court and took down the Abilene Christian's duo of Pothier/Williams, 6-4. The championship team also defeated Wright State's team of Haller/Madrigal, 6-1, on day three, finishing with a 6-0 record in doubles play during the invitational.

Paula Tormos Sanchez and Aleeza Kanner also continued their winning ways, defeating the Wright State duo of Cloern/Brdicka, 6-2. Their tournament winning streak was halted, however, by Abilene Christian in their final match of the tournament.

Diana Tokar and Courtney Hebard rounded out the victorious MU doubles squads, besting Wright State's Madrigal/Verstrepen, 6-2.

Marquette now returns to campus to prepare for Milwaukee and IUPUI, who the Golden Eagles will take on to start dual season on Jan. 23 at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Central time, respectively.
