Women's Tennis Falls, 5-2, at Minnesota

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The Marquette women’s tennis team (0-1) opened the 2013 dual campaign with a 5-2 loss at No. 41 Minnesota (1-0) on Saturday at the Baseline Tennis Center. The Gophers swept the doubles matches, though freshman Erin Gebes and sophomore Ana Pimienta fought hard before falling in an 8-7 decision to Yuliana Umanets and Jessika Mozia in the No. 2 slot. At No. 1 doubles, junior Rocio Diaz and sophomore Ali Dawson were just edged by Natallia Pintusava and Tereza Brichacova, 8-6. Pimienta came up with a victory at No. 1 singles as she came back and defeated Pintusava, 3-6, 7-6, 1-0 (4). Gebes also scored for Marquette as she defeated Aria Lambert at No. 4 singles,4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (8). Minnesota 5, Marquette 2
