The Marquette women's tennis team faced University of Wisconsin-Madison on Saturday at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Golden Eagles (1-1) fell to the Badgers (1-0) in a 5-2 decision.

MU's two points came from sophomore Erin Gebes and senior Rocio Diaz. The doubles partners defeated Lauren Chypyha and Becca Bailey, 8-1.

Both Gebes and Diaz also won their singles matches. Gebes took down Lauren Burich, 6-3, 4-6, 10-6 at the No. 2 position. In the No. 6 singles, Diaz had the victory over Becca Bailey, 6-4, 6-1.

The Golden Eagles conclude their four-match homestand when they welcome Iowa State on Friday, February 7 at 4 p.m. CT. MU will play at Western Michigan Feb. 9 at 9 a.m. CT.
