Women's Tennis Falls to no. 40 Indiana, 7-0

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Marquette women's tennis team suffered another set back to a ranked opponent falling 7-0 to no. 40 Indiana Sunday afternoon. With the loss, the Golden Eagles fall to 1-5 on the spring season. Marquette hung tough in the morning matches, beginning with doubles. The IU tandem of Alba Berdala and Laura McGaffigan defeated sophomore Lauren Little and junior Shannon Brown, 8-4. Sigrid Fischer and Cecile Perton defeated junior Maria Calbeto and freshman Kylie Moore at the second doubles position, 8-2, while Stephanie Heller and junior Brianna Williams earned an 8-5 with at no. 3 doubles over junior Erin Watkins and senior Francina Bonnelly. In singles action, the Hoosiers got quick wins over Watkins, 6-2, 6-1 no. 4 singles and freshman Elly Strother, 6-2, 6-2 at no. 6 singles, and Marquette was unable to dig itself out of a 3-0 deficit. The Golden Eagles will return to action at Ohio State on Friday, February 9. No. 40 Indiana 7, Marquette 0
