MU Remains Undefeated, Tops Bowling Green, 7-0

MILWAUKEE- The Marquette University women's tennis team swept Bowling Green 7-0 this evening at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium.

In singles the Golden Eagles (5-0) prevailed early. Sophomore Diana Tokar, senior Vanessa Foltinger and freshman Paula Tormos Sanchez did not drop a set and won their respective matches, 6-0, 6-0. Senior Ana Pimienta, the current BIG EAST Women's Tennis Player of the Week defeated her opponent 6-0, 6-2.

No. 1 doubles partners junior Erin Gebes and Pimienta won 6-1. The duo has only surrendered eight total sets in five matches. Junior Aleeza Kanner and senior Ali Dawson bested the duo from Bowling Green as did Foltinger and Tormos Sanchez. All doubles matches were won in a 6-1 decision.

MU begins a three-game road trip Sunday when traveling Madison, Wisconsin to face the Badgers at 10 a.m. Central time. The Golden Eagles will continue on their BIG 10 swing when they visit Indiana and Illinois on Feb. 14 and 15, respectively.
