Feb. 6, 2016
IOWA CITY, Iowa--The Marquette women's tennis squad got back to winning ways on Saturday with a 6-1 victory over Eastern Michigan on the campus of the University of Iowa on Saturday afternoon.
"We played well today overall starting out with a hard fought doubles point," head coach Jody Bronson said. "Our girls came with a good focus and energy and all battled no matter if they were up or down in the match. Eastern Michigan came out to play and pushed us in all the matches today. They have a good mentality and drive to succeed.
"I am happy the girls bounced back from a tough loss last Sunday and I am proud of our efforts today. We are starting to get a better overall rythm as a team and recognizing the intensity we need to bring to each match."
MU (4-1) got on the board first winning the doubles point by claiming two of the three matches. The No. 1 tandem of Silvia Ambrosio and Erin Gebes played a tough match, but came through with a 7-6 victory to clinch the point, while Paula Tormos Sanchez and Aleeza Kanner won their match on the No. 3 court, 6-3.
