Women's Tennis Falls at No. 26 Indiana, 7-0

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Marquette women's tennis team continued its struggle against nationally ranked opponents as it fell 7-0 at No. 26 Indiana Sunday inside the IU Tennis Complex. The match at Indiana marked the second consecutive national ranked foe the Golden Eagles have played, fourth of the season. MU fell at No. 46 Iowa on Friday. The Golden Eagles used the same doubles lineup as they did against Hawkeyes and was unable to come away with the doubles point. The No. 2 and 3 pairs both fell by the same result, 8-1, to their Hoosier counterparts, and senior Shannon Brown and junior Lauren Little fell short against Alba Berdala and Katya Zapadalova, 8-5, at No. 1. In singles action, IU continued to dominate and sealed the victory with three two-set wins. Freshman Rachael Hush went down, 6-2, 6-2, to Sigrid Fischer at No. 4 singles. Next, Little was downed at No. 1, 6-3, 6-2 by Berdala. Brianna Williams followed with a 7-6 (7-3), 6-1 decision over junior Robin Metzler to earn the match win. In the final match of the afternoon, freshman Christina Ruiz forced a three-set marathon match that featured two tie-breakers before falling to Lindsay Stuckey, 4-6, 7-6 (7-3), 1-0 (10-7), at No. 5. The Golden Eagles return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 13, when they host Wisconsin at 5 p.m., at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium. #26 Indiana 7, Marquette 0
