MILWAUKEE -

In the second match of a doubleheader, the Marquette women’s tennis team swept Valparaiso, 7-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Helfaer Recreation Center. MU dropped just six total sets in singles play after sweeping doubles competition.

The Golden Eagles easily handled the Crusaders in doubles, falling in just three total sets combined. The tandem of freshmen Aleeza Kanner and Aina Hernadez Soler swept their opponents from Valpo, 8-0.

In singles play, MU dominated once again as the No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 positions swept their opponents with clean 6-0, 6-0 sets.

Marquette concludes a four-match homestand and will not play at Helfaer until March 24.  The Golden Eagles travel to Wisconsin for a mid-week showdown with the Badgers at 5 p.m. CT.  MU will play at Iowa on Saturday, Feb. 23 at 1 p.m. CT.
