Golden Eagles Sweep Connecticut 7-0

MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University women's tennis team earned its second straight 7-0 sweep Friday evening over Connecticut at Helfaer Tennis Stadium. The Golden Eagles improve to 5-1 overall.

Marquette won all three doubles matches to earn the first point of the day and the Golden Eagles continued to roll in singles posting wins at all six positions.

Gillian Hush won her sixth straight match and her second at No. 1 singles defeating Alexa Gregory, 6-2, 7-5. Olga Fischer bested Maxene Weinberg at No. 2, 6-0, 7-5, while Ana Pimienta and Ali Dawson took down their respective Huskie counterparts at No. 3 and No. 4, 6-2, 6-3 and 6-3, 6-2, respectively.

Rocio Diaz, playing at No. 5 for the first time this season, downed Lauren Wilmarth, 6-2, 7-5, and Tina Radan helped Marquette complete the sweep with her 6-2, 6-4 win over Marie Gargiulo at No. 6.

The Golden Eagles return to action Sunday when they host West Virginia at 10 a.m.
