Madison, Wis. -
The No. 73 Marquette women's tennis team fell 5-2 to No. 68 UW-Madison Wednesday evening at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium. The Golden Eagles won the doubles point, but were only able to come away with one singles win. The loss puts Marquette at 8-4 overall on the season.
"We lost a couple tough matches today, but overall I am really proud of how hard we played," said head coach Jody Bronson. "We battled till the very end and just came up short. This match was a good learning experience for us and one we will take with us as we go on the road to play Rutgers and Villanova."

However, Wisconsin rallied and quickly claimed a 3-1 lead with wins at No. 1, No. 5 and No. 6.
Freshman Olga Fischer captured her eighth straight singles victory, and what turned out to be the lone singles win for Marquette, defeating UW's Emese Kardhordo 6-2, 7-5.
The Badgers sealed the win with victories at No. 3 and No. 4. Aleksandra Markovic outlasted Moore, 2-6, 6-4, 4-1 at No. 4, and Katya Mirnova topped Christina Ruiz at No. 3, 6-4, 7-6 (7-5).
