Marquette Outlasts Ball State, 4-3

MUNCIE, Ind.--The Marquette women's tennis squad (5-3) came back at Ball State to defeat the Cardinals, 4-3, on Saturday in Muncie.

The Golden Eagles dropped the doubles point, as junior Ana Pimienta and sophomore Aleeza Kanner earned their double win, 8-5 at the No. 3 position.

MU responded with strong singles play, which was the deciding factor in the match. Pimienta won at the No. 1 position, 5-7, 6-4, 6-4, defeating Ball State's Courtney Earnest. The Golden Eagles also won at positions 3, 4 and 5. On the No. 3 court, junior Ali Dawson claimed a victory, 1-6, 6-4, 6-1 and junior Vanessa Foltinger won 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 in No. 4 action. Also victorious was sophomore Laia Hernandez Soler earning a 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 win on court five.

The Golden Eagles will conclude play on the road Sunday, Feb. 23 at IPFW. First serve is slated for 8 a.m. Central time.
