MILWAUKE--The Marquette women's tennis team enjoyed the friendly confines of Helfaer Tennis Stadium as the squad blanked South Dakota State, 7-0 on Friday.

The Golden Eagles (3-4) earned their first sweep of the season and welcomed Fleur Eggink back to lineup in the decisive victory. MU got on the board first with the doubles point in a stellar sweep, dropping just one total set. Paula Tormos Sanchez and Natalija Popovic played in the number one position with a 6-1 win, while Milica Novakovic and Isabella Franks at No. 2 and Fleur Eggink with Andrea Amortegui at No. 3 each turned in a pair of 6-0 sweeps.

In singles action, Tormos Sanchez won at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-1 as Popovic topped SDSU at No. 2, 6-1, 6-1. Novakovic and Amortegui earned respective 6-1, 6-0 and 6-3, 6-4 wins and Lesley Foe made her first appearance of the day with a win at the No. 5 position, 6-2, 6-1. Franks capped the day with a 6-1, 6-3 win at the No. 6 court.

MU travels to Iowa on Sunday, Feb. 25 and will face the Hawkeyes at 10 a.m. CT.
