Women's Tennis Tops Ball State, 5-2

MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University women's tennis team earned its fourth straight win Friday evening in the form of a 5-2 defeat of Ball State at Helfaer Tennis Stadium. The Golden Eagles remain perfect on their home court, 7-0, this season.
Marquette gave up just five points in doubles play en route to the first point of the day. The undefeated No. 1 tandem of Olga Fischer and Gillian Hush pushed their win streak to seven matches with an 8-1 win over Kristel Sander s and Courtney Wild, 8-1. Rocio Diaz and Ana Pimienta followed with an 8-1 win over their Ball State counterparts at No. 2, while Tina Radan and Ali Dawson completed the sweep by defeating Lauren Pickrel and Dena Boulieris, 8-3, at No. 3.
The Golden Eagles continued to roll in singles play earning the first three wins of evening to secure their seventh match win. Fischer took care of Sanders in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 2. Hush remained undefeated at No. 1 following a 6-0, 6-3 win over Wild. Pimienta was next as she downed Kylee Johnson, 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4.
Rounding out the scoring for Marquette was Ali Dawson who pulled out a 6-4, 7-5 win over Ashlyn Rang at No. 3.
Marquette will be back in action at Helfaer Tennis Stadium on Sunday against Wisconsin. Doubles play starts at 10 a.m.
