MILWAUKEE--The Marquette women's tennis squad got back on a winning track with a decisive 6-1 victory over NIU on Saturday at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium.

The Golden Eagles (5-4) opened the match with an easy sweep in doubles action to claim the first point of the match. Diana Tokar and Fleur Eggink teamed at No. 2 doubles and took a 6-1 victory before Lesley Foe and Isabella Franks clinched the point with a 6-2 win at the No. 3 position. Silvia Ambrosio and Paula Tormos Sanchez completed the sweep with a 6-4 win at the No. 1 spot.

Tokar claimed a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles to give the Golden Eagles their second point of the match and Eggink pulled through to a 7-5, 6-0 win at the No. 4 position, which put MU in front 3-0. Tormos Sanchez clinched the match winning point as she won at 6-2, 6-3 in the No. 2 spot.

Ambrosio and Franks also earned singles wins, pulling through in extra sets.

MU is off until March 4 when the squad will host Drake at Noon Central time.
