Women's Tennis Falls Sunday at West Virginia

MORGANTOWN, West Va. - The Marquette women's tennis squad fell on the road at former conference-foe West Virginia on Sunday afternoon at the Ridgeview Racquet Club. The Golden Eagles fell in double to open up the match despite a strong effort from each court. Sophomore Ana Pimienta and freshman Erin Gebes won in an 8-4 decision. The tandem of junior Rocio Diaz and sophomore Ali Dawson fought through an extra set, before falling 9-7. The Mountaineers won the first three singles positions, but MU claimed victories in No. 4 singles as Gebes defeated Emily Mathis, 6-1, 6-2. Freshman Vanessa Foltinger made quick work of her opponent at No.5 singles, 6-1, 6-3. Marquette will travel out west to California for the next two matches. MU will face UC Irvine at 11:30 a.m. CT next Monday, March 11 and will play at San Diego State on Friday, March 15 at noon CT. Singles
