Women's Tennis Wraps up Day Two at Milwaukee Tennis Classic

MILWAUKEE - The Marquette women's tennis team wrapped up day two at the 30th Annual Milwaukee Tennis Classic, sweeping UW-Green Bay in doubles play, 3 -0, but falling to Illinois State in singles action, 5-1. The Golden Eagles will conclude play in the Milwaukee Tennis Classic tomorrow at 9 a.m., at the Western Racquet Club. The Golden Eagles lone singles win came from Erin Watkins at no. 2 singles as she defeated Illinois State's Ashley Maxwell, 6-0, 6-3, making her 2-0 on the weekend. Beba Calbeto, Fran Bonnely, Dominka Dabrowski, Lisa Nguyen and Andrea Bukarek all were defeated in their respective singles matches. On the doubles side, the Golden Eagles swept the Phoenix, 3-0. The no. 1 doubles tandem of Calbeto and Bonnely cruised to a 8-1 win over Heather Harding and Ashley Jurgella, while Watkins and Dabrowski defeated Jenny Tan and Amy Messiner, 8-3. The duo of Bukacek and Nguyen breezed by Megan Gregory and Kristin Leeder, 8-3, to clinch the sweep. Illinois State 5, Marquette 1 (Singles) Marquette 3, UW-Green Bay 0 (Doubles)
