Marquette Drops a 5-2 Decision at No. 24 UC Irvine
March 11, 2013 IRVINE, Calif. - The Marquette women’s tennis team opened its spring trip on Monday afternoon at the Anteater Tennis Stadium on the campus of UC Irvine. The Golden Eagles (9-7) fell to the No. 24 Anteaters (11-3) in a 5-2 decision. MU’s two points came in singles play from freshman Erin Gebes, who defeated Franziska Goettsching, 7-6, 6-3 at the No. 3 positions, and at No. 6 singles as freshman Vanessa Foltinger took down Sarah Stadfelt, 6-3, 6-3. The Golden Eagles will remain out west for the week and take on San Diego State on Friday, March 15 at 5 p.m. CT.
