Marquette Drops a 7-0 Match to No. 56 Ohio State

LAS VEGAS, Nev.--The Marquette women's tennis team fell to No. 56 Ohio State, 7-0, on Friday afternoon at the Fertitta Tennis Complex on the campus of UNLV.
The Golden Eagles are now 6-6 overall in the season.
Junior Ana Pimienta started her singles match at the No. 1 slot with a 6-3 victory, but was forced into and extra set, falling to the Buckeye's Miho Kowase, 6-3, 4-6, 10-12.
Ohio State swept doubles action as junior Ali Dawson and sophomore Laia Hernandez Soler joined at No. 1 doubles, but dropped an 8-5 decision. Sophomore Erin Gebes and senior Rocio Diaz teamed on the No. 2 court, but fell, 8-3 to Sandy Niehaus and Kelsey Becker. The tandem of Pimienta and sophomore Aleeza Kanner played in the No. 3 slot, but fell in their match, 8-3.
MU will look to get back to winning way and return home to Helfaer Tennis Stadium on Friday, March 21 to host a doubleheader with Illinois State and IUPUI. First serve against the Redbirds is set for 1 p.m. Central time.
