The Marquette women's tennis team (9-7) lost a narrow 4-3 decision to former conference foe Cincinnati on Sunday afternoon at the Western Tennis and Fitness Center.

The Golden Eagles dropped the opening doubles point as the match got underway as Diana Tokar and Paula Tormos Sanchez won the lone doubles match for MU. The No. 3 duo improved to 6-5 on the dual match season with an easy 6-1 decision.

Vanessa Foltinger won her second straight singles match to give Marquette its first point of the day with a 6-0, 6-2 victory at the No. 6 position. Foltinger is 10-5 overall this spring.

Gebes tied the match at two points apiece with a 6-2, 7-6, 7-4 decision on the No. 2 court before the Bearcats won at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, which clinched the win for UC.

Tormos Sanchez fought hard to earn a point in the No. 5 position in a match that was a battle from the beginning. She earned a 7-6 (9-7), 0-6, 7-6 (7-2) victory over Natalia Abdalla.

The Golden Eagles will remain on the road as the squad is in the midst of a five-match road trip. MU will travel to Butler for its second BIG EAST match this season on Saturday, March 28. First serve is slated for 10 a.m. Central time.
