Marquette Sweeps Butler, 7-0

MILWAUKEE--The Marquette women's tennis team (10-7) completed a perfect weekend of action at Helfaer Tennis Stadium with a perfect 7-0 sweep over BIG EAST opponent, Butler, on Sunday afternoon.
The Golden Eagles made quick work of the Bulldogs in doubles action, sweeping all courts to open the match. The duo of senior Rocio Diaz and sophomore Erin Gebes earned an 8-3 victory playing at the No. 1 position and is now 12-5 together this season. Junior Ali Dawson and sophomore Laia Hernandez Soler took an 8-2 victory at No. 2 doubles, which clinched the point for MU. Junior Ana Pimienta and sophomore Aina Hernandez Soler swept the Bulldogs, 8-0 at the No. 3 slot.
Gebes finished first at No. 4 singles with a quick 6-1, 6-0 victory over Kailey Eaton, while Pimienta turned in a 6-0, 6-2 win over Sephani McLoughlin in the No. 1 position. A. Hernandez Soler bested Angelina Qin, 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 5 slot, while junior Vanessa Foltinger made quick work in her match at No. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-0. Sophomore Aleeza Kanner earned a 6-1, 6-1 victory on the No. 6 court. Junior Ali Playing in the No. 2 position, Dawson earned a 6-3 victory in her first set and stormed back from a 5-4 deficit in the second to earn a 7-5 victory and complete the sweep for Marquette.
The Golden Eagles will travel to Arkansas State on Friday, April 4. First serve is slated for 1 p.m. Central time.
