Louisville Tops Marquette, 6-1

MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University women's tennis team closed out the home portion of its 2012 schedule falling to Louisville, 6-1, Sunday afternoon at Helfaer Tennis Stadium. The team honored graduate student Tina Radan, and seniors Olga Fischer and Gillian Hushprior to the match on Senior Day.
Louisville claimed the first point of the afternoon with a pair of doubles wins at No. 2 and No. 3.
After Julia Fellerhoff and Sarah Miller (LOU) defeated Ana Pimienta and Ali Dawson 8-3 at No. 3, Gillian Hush and Olga Fischerdominated Gabrielle Duncan and Amelia Harris 8-1 at No.1 leaving the match to be decided at No. 2.
Tina Radan and Rocio Diazowned a 7-4 advantage before Louisville's Manuela Velasquez and Rebecca Shine finished the match scoring five consecutive points to take the match and the first point of the afternoon.
In singles play, Louisville earned wins at No. 4, 5, and 6 to secure the match win.
The Golden Eagles will close out the regular season playing its final three matches on the road. MU opens the road trip against VCU on Saturday, April 7 at 10 a.m. in Tampa, Fla.
